About Us
The Story of Hope United Methodist Church begins long ago. The Bedford connection to the church dates back to the original Bedford Methodist Episcopal Church in 1830 – started by the Rev. John Crawford, a Circuit Rider. In 2013, Hope United Methodist came to be as a merger of Bedford First United Methodist, Hathaway United Methodist and Maple Heights United Methodist congregations. As we move into the future we seek to be the light of Hope for the communities in which we serve.
Our Mission
The Mission of Hope United Methodist Church is to be a community where faith is made easier to understand, so that we can in turn go out into the world to serve those in need. We strive to be a light of Hope in all that we do and wherever we find ourselves in the world. We live into this through our community meals, hosting of the food pantry, and other service opportunities, along with taking time to work on our personal faith too.
Our United Methodist Connection
The United Methodist Church is a “connectional” church. We are linked with other United Methodist churches in our North Coast District, East Ohio Conference, and the United Methodist denomination as a whole. Together, we minister to the needs of our community and world much more effectively than we could on our own. If you’d like to learn more about mission opportunities within our congregation or within the wider denomination please contact Pastor Andrew Scott.
